The Solutions Engineering organization inside Google Cloud is focused on driving specifically engineered solutions that are targeted towards certain priority verticals (e.g. retail, healthcare, manufacturing, telecommunications, media/entertainment and others). It also focuses on cross-industry horizontal solution areas, such as AI/ML, security, infrastructure/app modernization and others. The Solutions Engineering organization is responsible for the entire lifecycle of a solution, starting with planning, design, development and commercialization in the market.
The role:
The DevOps Engineer in Cloud Solutions Studio is a technical consulting role that helps translate high level concepts and customer journeys into POC demo or prototype. As specialist in infrastructure and app modernization, this role is expected to support cloud architects and developers (Fullstack). Candidates should possess practical experience with GCP products, with focus on cloud-native app development.
Responsibilities
- Consulting – provide infra/app modernization expertise to various stakeholders or team members
- Partner with UX designers, Customer Engineers and Sales to understand customer’s problem
- Drive technical exploration/technology research and experimentation to output new concepts and POCs
- Design, create, deliver and support automation within HPC and Unix environments
- Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity
- Setup alerting, reports/dashboards for monitoring overall system health
- Plan & implement optimisations for network/compute/storage systems being used
Minimum qualifications:
- BE/BS degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related degree or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with cloud provider ecosystems for at least one of the major cloud service providers (Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Experience with scripting languages with a strong knowledge in Linux operating system internals, networking, filesystems and storage technologies.
- Experience in building & supporting compute/storage/network infrastructure systems and solutions
- Working knowledge of Python language and experience with automated deployment scripts
Preferred qualifications:
- Relevant industry experience in implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting the Unix/Linux operating system
- Experience with building/maintaining/supporting CI/CD systems
- Production Kubernetes experience
- Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform
- Hands-on Experience with DevOps tools like Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins
- Experience with source / version control systems
